Queen's University Belfast

The CRR Conference 2008 will take place on the main campus of Queen's University in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Queen's is one of the UK's top universities. The campus is located in south Belfast, only a 15-minute walk from the city centre, beside the lovely surroundings of the botanic gardens and the Ulster Museum. But Queen's is not only physically central to Belfast; it takes its role as an important part of the community seriously, too. One small way that this shows is in the arts provision - great for students, but also for residents. There's the annual Belfast festival at Queen's, a film festival, an art gallery and Northern Ireland's only arthouse cinema. It all puts Queen's at the heart of what is rapidly becoming one of Europe's most exciting and trendy cities.

Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, is situated on Ireland's eastern coast. Not too long ago, the city went through troublesome times, with its key industries declining and the sectarian conflict unfolding. However, since the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, significant change has taken place and Belfast is once again becoming a thriving and vibrant city. Even throughout the troubles, Belfast had maintained its reputation of being a welcoming and lively city.
