Dr William Young

William Young has research experience in sustainability indicators for business, environmental reporting, sustainable production and consumption, sustainable households/lifestyles, ethical and fair trade, sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation and sustainable business evaluation. This is reflected in his publications in journals, books and conferences including the books "Ethical Shopping - Where to Shop, What to Buy & What to Do to Make a Difference" (with Richard Welford) and “Sold Out – The True Cost of Supermarket Shopping”.

Current research include a project funded by the ESRC Sustainable Technologies Programme: “Trade-offs in decision making for sustainable technologies” and a project for the British Standards Institute evaluating the usefulness of the ISO14000 series to users and stakeholders using ISO14031 as a case study.

William Young is Programme Manager for the MA in Sustainable Business and is organiser for the Corporate Responsibility Research Conference 2006. He is a research expert sitting on British Standards Institute (BSI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) committees including ISO14031 Environmental Performance Evaluation Standard Guidelines and new sustainable development standards. He is an Advisory Board Member for the “Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management” journal. William Young also has consultancy and business experience in corporate environmental and sustainability management and advises DEFRA on sustainable consumption.
