Responsible Leadership Psychology Workshop – Call for abstracts
Echoing the call of the conference for a diversity of views in a diverse world, we invite researchers and practitioners to take part in a Responsible Leadership Psychology workshop, which will take place during the main conference.
Psychology is already represented in the field of management studies through the lens of organisational studies and organisational behaviour. Leadership lends itself to a psychological enquiry onto the characteristics of a good leader, as well as a psycho-social reading of the events, aspirations and sources of influence that shape one’s leadership style.
As world leaders are called onto taking strong steps to ensure a sustainable way of living, we wonder what makes a truly responsible leader. Leadership studies have recently shifted from a traditional, result-orientated approach to acknowledge a more inspiring, spiritual and enlightened leadership character. Leaders ought to develop themselves before and/or whilst they lead others, so that the core values of responsibility and sustainability were not be compromised. Responsible leadership invites authenticity, integrity and a greater level of consciousness. It involves a challenging yet endearing confrontation with oneself in the tradition of C.G. Jung’s individuation process, a complete realisation of the Self.
We therefore invite contributions that offer a new perspective on the psychology of leadership development that embrace responsibility and authenticity to self. Papers integrating analytical psychology, humanistic psychology, archetypal and mythological interpretations or spiritual self-focussed processes are particularly welcome.
A selection of papers will be included in a Special Issue of the Journal of Management Development.
The topics of this workshop include but are not limited to - Emotions and responsibility - Authentic leadership and responsibility - Psychological considerations of responsible management - Responsibility, ego and self - Role-playing and responsibility.
Please email your abstracts of a maximum of 300 words to abstracts@crrconference.org by 31 March 2010. Please use the subject line “Abstract submission for Responsible Leadership Psychology workshop” for your submission email and include a note both in the abstract and in your email message that it is for the Responsible Leadership Psychology Workshop.
